Research Pods

Cardiology Pod: The Cardiology Pod focuses on improving health outcomes among patients with cardiovascular healthcare needs. Ranging from coordination of clinical trials sponsored by pharmaceutical companies with the goal of developing novel treatments for heart disease to nation-wide registries focused on surveillance and prevention, the Cardiology Pod provides many opportunities to improve cardiovascular patient care.

Oncology Pod: In the Oncology Pod, we strive to provide cutting edge clinical research treatment options to cancer patients at Renown Health. In collaboration with pharmaceutical companies and cooperative groups such as the NIH National Cancer Institute Community Oncology Research Program (NCORP), the Oncology Pod focuses on cancer prevention, surveillance, care delivery, and quality of life improvement.

Specialty Pod: The Specialty Pod represents a group of research staff dedicated to the coordination of diverse research projects. With experience in neurology, pulmonology, and gastrointestinal research to name a few, the Specialty Pod strives to improve the health of diverse patient populations.

Healthy Nevada Project: The Healthy Nevada Project is a clinical study offering you, at no-cost, the opportunity to learn about your ancestry, diet insights and genetic risks linked to heart disease and certain cancers, including prevention strategies. Your contribution to this study also allows us to create a robust set of data and enables us to draw new conclusions about how to improve the health of the entire Nevada population. Essential Personnel

Michele Frankovich – Administrative Director

Formerly with Mayo Clinic and UT Southwestern Medical Center, Michele has 15 years of experience in research administration, healthcare finance, strategic planning, analytics and process improvement. Michele is a member of the Society of Clinical Research Associates, the Association of Healthcare Professionals and holds certifications in Change Management, DISC training, Design of Experiments, Managing Workforce Diversity and Crucial Conversations.​

Toni Curreri – Manager of Clinical Research

Toni has been in clinical research since October of 2012 with a background in neurology clinical trials with an emphasis on headache, MS and stroke trials. She worked on genetic research with the Healthy Nevada Project and saw the expansion of the project statewide. She now manages the Renown Research Office. She holds a CCRP designation through SOCRA and has a BS in Biology. She is driven to work in research as she has seen many of the positive impacts that research brings to healthcare, having worked on a trial from phase 2 to market. The best part about working in research is coordinating with care teams and patients so we can bring these exciting opportunities to our community. In her free time, you will find Toni at the gym, playing with dogs, crafting, or doing some home renovations.

Amy Scott – Regulatory Analyst

​​Amy has 10-years of research experience between the University of Nevada, Reno and Renown. She completed her Community Health Sciences (BS) and Masters of Public Health (MPH) at the University of Nevada, Reno while working full-time. In July 2018, Amy transitioned to the her current role as the Research Regulatory Analyst. She has served as an Army Reservist (Combat Medic) and has worked as a cashier, EMS, Research Integrity, Security & Risk Management, and many other roles which have formed her foundation of ethical work practices. In Research, she works with regulatory compliance targeting participant safety, quality, reliability, and validity of data collection.

Diana Torres – Resource Analyst

D​​iana has worked in Clinical Research since 2014. She has 11 years of billing/Accounts Receivable experience in Primary Care and Oncology. She has further expanded her knowledge to Neurology, Cardiology, Pediatric Specialty and Pulmonary studies. She is responsible for many of the financial aspects of our clinical trials including sponsor billing, monthly reconciliations and monitoring of research resource allocation, both internal and external. She is accountable for all  research related accounting, financial reports, and reconciliation of research related contracts. She is certified in QuickBooks and Bookkeeping and holds an Associates of Science from Truckee Meadows Community College. She loves spending time with her family, baking cakes and taking classes in Zumba and high intensity Step Cardio.​
